Guided coach tour · Hotel pickup in Jerusalem

A spa day on the Dead Sea

A coach takes you from your Jerusalem hotel down through the Judean Desert to a resort on the Dead Sea shore for a long, unhurried day. Pick it if you want hours in the water and the mud rather than history.

Dead Sea Spa and Sightseeing Day

About this experience

This is the slow option. The listing includes pickup and drop-off, an air-conditioned coach, a professional guide in a choice of languages and the entrance fee to the Dead Sea. Natural treatments and massages are not included, nor are food and drinks. The resort offers extra treatments that you reserve in advance, so book them before the day if you want one.

On the way down you see the Inn of the Good Samaritan and views of Jericho. Then you spend the day at a well-appointed resort on the shore, which a guest names as Kalia Beach. The Dead Sea lies about 439 m below sea level, the lowest land on Earth, and its water is about 34% salt, roughly ten times saltier than the ocean. You float whether you can swim or not. There is time to wallow in the mud, float, rest and sit in the sun, and the coach takes you back to your hotel door.

The listing has 4.5 stars from 20 reviews, a small sample, with 5.0 for the guide and for transport. Groups run up to 40. It is not suitable for children under 4 or for wheelchair users. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

What guests say

★★★★★

Our tour guide was Mier who was very helpful and supported the group throughout. We also had a good driver. I choose to stay at the Kalia Beach Resort to bathe in the Dead Sea and booked a massage treatment. The resort is clean, guarded, nicely landscaped, good shops and amenities with privacy. [...]

Tips before you book

  • Book any massage in advance. The listing says extra treatments are reserved before the day.
  • Bring a hat, a swimsuit, a towel, comfortable shoes and flip-flops. The listing recommends them all.
  • Carry your passport. The listing asks for it, and the road down from Jerusalem, Route 1 east and then Route 90 south along the shore, crosses the West Bank, so carry your passport.
  • Know the bathing rules. Bathe only at a declared beach while the lifeguards are on duty, walk in slowly, keep your face out of the water and rinse in the freshwater showers afterwards. Salt water in the eyes stings badly, and none of it should be swallowed.
  • Comparing beaches? Our Dead Sea beaches guide covers the paid north shore and the free south.
