Masada and Dead Sea, Entrance Fees Included

About this experience

The selling point is in the name. The listing includes hotel pickup and drop-off, transport, a government-licensed guide and the entrance fees to the sites, so the Masada gate, the cable car ride and the beach stop are covered. Meals and tips are extra. In 2026 the listings quote Masada National Park at 37 NIS, the Masada cable car at 54 NIS for the round trip, Ein Gedi Nature Reserve at 31 NIS and a private Dead Sea beach at 45 NIS. Pickup is from centrally located hotels only; if yours is further out, the operator sends the address of the nearest meeting point.

The pickup is a late one, which suits anyone who does not want a pre-dawn alarm. The coach goes down through the Judean hills and stops at a Dead Sea cosmetics shop, where you hear about the minerals and can buy products. Then it runs along the shore to Masada. Masada is the fortress King Herod built on a desert mesa about 400 m above the Dead Sea. The Romans besieged it in 73/74 CE, and it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. You go up by cable car and the guide shows you the walls, palaces, synagogue, cisterns, mosaics and Roman baths. The last stop is the Dead Sea, to float and swim.

The listing has 4.3 stars from 394 reviews, with 4.7 for the guide. Tours run in two languages, and groups run up to 35. Guests name Dan, Lea and Sam, and say the timings were well planned. The day lasts 7 to 10 hours. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

Tips before you book

  • Check your hotel is central. If not, the operator sends you the closest meeting point instead.
  • Bring a head covering, sunscreen, a swimsuit and a towel. The listing recommends all of them.
  • Set a budget for the cosmetics shop, or simply enjoy the talk and buy nothing.
  • Know the bathing rules. Bathe only at a declared beach while the lifeguards are on duty, walk in slowly, keep your face out of the water and rinse in the freshwater showers afterwards. Salt water in the eyes stings badly, and none of it should be swallowed.
  • Bring your passport. The road down from Jerusalem, Route 1 east and then Route 90 south along the shore, crosses the West Bank, so carry your passport.
